2008 ELECTION OF OFFICERS The Triennial election process began at the meeting on February 9, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. The election committee conducted the meeting and nominations for all elected positions in the Indianapolis Area Local were opened. The Election Committee read the proposed rules of this election at the beginning of the meeting, and they were accepted and will govern this election. Ballots will be mailed March 3, 2008 and MUST BE returned by NO LATER THAN March 20, 2008 at 8:00 a.m. in the PO Box. Ballot counting will begin at 10:00 a.m. March 20, 2008 at the Union Hall. If you are a member and have not received you ballot by March 10, 2008, Please contact the Union Hall so that the Election Committee can issue one to you. The Election Committee will complete their first bulletin on February 15, 2008 list candidates and election information.

APWU, AFLAC Offer Benefit to Help Protect Members' Families Against Medical Catastrophe

A representative from AFLAC made a presentation at the last
two union meetings. The National APWU and
AFLAC teamed up in August, 2004 and the benefits are being presented
across the country.
LOCAL CONTRACTS ONLINE
The local contracts or Local
Memorandums of Understanding (LMOU's) are online for members ONLY in
the Adobe *.pdf format. Members will need to use the proper
USERNAME and PASSWORD assigned to them, and will need the
Adobe
Acrobat Reader to read and print them.
In addition to the contracts, the Local Constitution and
Bylaws, the Collective Bargaining Reports (CBR's), past issues of the
"Indy Info", APWU FMLA Forms, and more... are also
available in the Adobe *.pdf format for members, officers and stewards.

MEMBERS RATIFY A FOUR-YEAR CONTRACT APWU members ratified a four-year Collective Bargaining Agreement by a vote of 84,486 to 12,016, in balloting that concluded Jan. 12. The new National Agreement, which is retroactive to Nov. 21, 2006, will expire Nov. 20, 2010. [full story]
FULL TIME STEWARDS PROGRAM BACK The Full Time Stewards program is being reinstated for the Indianapolis P&DC , while talks continue with Customer Service to reinstate the program in the Stations and Branches. As always, you will still need to request a steward through your supervisor.
APWU Files Suit on Jurisdictional Disputes (01/05/07) The APWU has filed a lawsuit in U.S. District Court, charging that the National Postal Mail Handlers Union and U.S. Postal Service have violated a national-level three-party agreement that establishes procedures for resolving disputes over work assignments.
